2023 Rosé
Tasting Notes
This Rosé is 75% Dolcetto, 17% Grenache, and 8% Marsanne fermented and aged in 100% stainless steel. Bright rhubarb, cranberry and tart cherry are framed by a clean, and refreshingly crisp finish! Lively, fresh, fun, and very flavorful.
Vineyard Notes
Both the Dolcetto and Grenache from an outcropping of granite located in the stratigraphic layer directly below the "lava cap," at the lowest reaches of our Estate vineyard. The soil has minimal organic matter in it, and is extremely well draining. This coupled with the steep angle of the vineyard, results in highly expressive wines.
This high elevation location benefits from a strong downflow of cold air in the evening, from two canyons. One from the the Estate vineyard above, and one from the American river canyon, to the North and East.
The vines have a panoramic view of the American River to the North, and the Sierra Nevada to the East. A spectacular location.
Winemaker Notes
Dolcetto is a grape native to Northern Italy, where is it used to make an early drinking, dark, vibrant red wine. At our location in the Sierra foothills the grapes reaches peak maturity while retaining ample acidity, great for a rose.
