2022 Mourvedre
Tasting Notes
This medium bodied wine shows bright brambly red and blue fruit intermingling with aromas of bearclover, and earth. A true expression of our mountainous location, you can smell the pine forests that surround the vineyard in this wine. Moderate tannins are framed by balanced acidity and vibrant finish. Pairs with a range of meat, both white and red, along with earthy vegetables like mushrooms and potatoes.
Vineyard Notes
We finally have a vintage Mourvèdre after years of making a non-vintage wine due to the hungry Black Bears.
Winemaker Notes
Fermented in small open top fermentors, the wine underwent a 3 day cold soak before fermenting at moderate temperatures over 10 days. Freerun and press wine were combined for settling before ml and aging for 14 months in neutral French oak. The wine was racked once following ML and once for blending and bottling.
