Tasting Notes

An amazing Angelica style dessert wine made with Estate Grown Marsanne and Rousanne grapes. Wonderful notes of honey and caramel greet the nose and open to a smooth yet effortlessly integrated sweetness from the unfermented grape juice. Finishes with a slight toasted almond nuttiness from the barrel aging. An amazing bottle of wine to open with guests at the end of a relaxing evening. Pair this with a creamy blue cheese for a treat that will never be forgotten! 500ML Bottle Size.

Vineyard Notes

The wine is a field blend of Marssane and Roussane, from the highest elevation site on our Estate vineyards. Always the last white grapes to ripen, the grapes are left to reach peak sugar and flavor concentration before harvest.

The site, which sits at 2,800 ft on our highest elevation outcroppings of Lava Cap, has views looking South West. From its commanding perch, a panorama of both the Crystal Range of the Sierra Nevada, and California Coastal Range is visible. The location stays cooler during the days, and warmer during the nights, great for ripening these Mediterranean grapes.

Winemaker Notes

This wine is made in a style that was traditional to the foothills during the goldrush, when the style was known as Angelica.

Rather than fermenting to partial dryness before being arrested, as is common with port, this wine was fortified with neutral spirits and aged before fermentation took place. The fortified grape juice is then left in 225L neutral oak barrels to age for many years.

Using a solera style blending system, multiple vintages are combined to deliver an extremely complex, concentrated, and compelling dessert wine.
